MAG Aerospace is seeking a resourceful Sr. Operations Manager to be primary point of contact for all operations at site for execution of deployed end-user interface, maintenance operations, and personnel scheduling in support of operations. Works directly for the Program Manager to oversee the planning and execution of all projects. Works closely with the customer to identify requirements and develop solutions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

 

Duties include, but not limited to:

  • Responsible for producing a plan that captures the overall cost of each project and creating a schedule that maximizes the efficient use of external resources, internal labor, and contracted labor.

  • Works closely with the end users and customers to de-conflict local resource constraints, environmental difficulties and political concerns.

  • Fully responsible for all aspects of each project that includes, but is not limited to:

    • System architecture development, equipment lists, procurement, material preparation to include system build, packaging for shipment, shipping, destination coordination for receiving, destination coordination for storage and onward movement, destination procurement for installation resources to include materials and labor, site preparation, installation of sensors and hardware, installation of system components, as-built diagrams, site acceptance, and end-user follow up through the

      completion of the project.

  • Management for each installation may include but is not limited to the following sensor types:

    • Installation of Automatic Identification System (AIS) receivers and antennas, radars, Automatic Dependent

      Surveillance – Broadcast (ADS-B) receivers and antennas, security cameras, surveillance cameras, VHF/HF

      communications sets, microwave communications systems, satellite communications systems, domain awareness

      systems that include workstations, servers, and monitors, generator sets, renewable energy systems, etc.

    • Installations of sensor systems require conducting work on towers and buildings and could involve the use of heavy

      equipment for site preparation

  • Manages project managers, technicians, and sub-contractors to complete projects.
  • Because of extensive knowledge of the system, may perform duties as trainer for sensor system installations and maintenance.

Requirements

Minimum Requirements

Knowledge and Skills 

  • Expert understanding and knowledge of training requirements for DoD programs
  • In-depth knowledge of instruction training/policy guidance
  • Military courseware/syllabus development experience
  • Proven capabilities in all aspects of program management including contract performance management, resource/cost management, schedule estimation and tracking, personnel staffing, risk management, requirements analysis, quality assurance activities, design and development of processes and procedures
  • Ability to effectively use typical project management and analytic tools (e.g., Microsoft Project, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft SharePoint.)
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills (verbal and written) and demonstrated ability to foster teamwork and mutual respect
  • Experience must include installing many of the sensor types listed above.

  • Experience must include work on and around towers

    • Must be certified as a competent climber 

  • Must have had some training or experience in tower rescue techniques and able to be certified prior to managing efforts on a tower site 

  • Must have a basic understanding of electrical systems and experience running power to complex equipment from various types of power generating equipment and must have experience working with overseas 230 V power systems.

  • Must have experience in conducting site preparations for sensor installations.

  • Must have demonstrated project management skills that show ability to monitor and control costs and meet aggressive schedules in challenging environments.

  • Must demonstrate expertise in Microsoft Office products, to include Excel, Project and Visio, to manage project plans, costs, and schedules.

Minimum years of experience:

  • 10 years of experience required that must include:

    • 5 years managing complex technical projects 

    • 3 years managing projects related to installing sensor systems in remote overseas locations with minimal infrastructure, unreliable power, and extreme environmental conditions.  

Education: 

  • MA/ MS degree and applicable experience must be in engineering, computer science or other technical field, unless a substitution applies

    • Bachelor’s Degree plus four (4) years additional relevant work experience may be substituted for a Master’s Degree
    • Associates Degree plus four (4) years additional relevant work experience may be substituted for a Bachelor’s Degree
    • Six (6) years additional relevant work experience may be substituted for a Bachelor’s Degree

 

Physical/Working Requirements 

  • Operations Managers usually work in an office environment, but the purpose of the project will sometimes take them to non-standard workplaces
  • International travel to customer locations will be required.

Other Qualifications

  • Current active DoD Security Clearance
  • Daily work is on site at contractor facility in California, MD
  • Not a hybrid or telework position
  • 30% - 40% travel required
  • Must be a US Citizen

Salary at MAG Aerospace is determined by various factors including but not limited to location, the particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $140,000 to $160,000 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of MAG's total compensation package for employees.
