Position Summary

Act as a Cybersecurity analyst/Technician on project(s) or program(s) that are complex and unique in conceptual development and application related to DOD military operational requirements.  Leverages Information Technology (IT) knowledge and technical acumen to identify, address, assess, and improve domestic and international cyber requirements related to Intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) mission objectives. Utilizing the guidance and direction of project, program, and/or Information System Security Manager, the qualified individual will provide qualitative and quantitative task-based analysis of cyber threat requirements associated with emergent technical threat vectors unique to the program/project platform applications.  Individual will leverage technical IT methodologies and cyber expertise to provide management with assessment and mitigation requirements based on findings identified through cyber evaluation and analysis of current and future aviation ISR platforms.  Provides primary and secondary stakeholders with cyber risk assessments of both unclassified and classified system assets and resources, developing solutions to address and determine overall security design requirements for IT systems.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Apply Cyber IT knowledge to identify, assess, and develop cyber-related solutions required for classified and unclassified systems related to AISR platforms.  Individual will perform evaluation of IT security systems and related methodologies for effective levels of efficiency, operation, compliance with DOD information assurance (IA) standards, and engineering standards.
  • Report to the program manager and work directly with the lead cyber security information system security manager (ISSM) to provide key cyber-related assessment and analysis methodologies.
  • Apply extensive cyber security knowledge to ensure that systems comply with military Risk Management Framework (RMF) requirements for system protection and monitoring and IAW with DoDI RMF instruction 8510.01 for DoD Information Technology (IT). 
  • Under the DoD RMF guidance the Cybersecurity Technician candidate will be responsible for conducting the RMF life cycle to include RMF Continuous Monitoring, CONUS and OCONUS.
  • Participate in cyber integration and design of AISR system of systems, providing operational and technical guidance based on prior advanced cyber technical experience and training.  Working independently and in designated groups, candidate will ensure operational requirements, capabilities, characteristics, and required resources are identified and implemented to accomplish program cyber mission objectives
  • Conduct technical assessments of current and future systems to include Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS) scans and identify system vulnerabilities through DISA-provided assessment tools.  Utilization and experience in SCAP and STIG tool assessment, POA&M generation and eMASS IA system management are required at Classified and Unclassified levels. 
  • Identify and analyze AISR system of systems for cyber compliance, vulnerabilities, and functionality while maintaining IT-centric system analysis requirements CONUS and OCONUS. 
  • Will also ensure defensive and offensive cybersecurity assessment protocols are identified and implemented in a designated cyber laboratory, including DEVSECOPs and RMF continuous monitoring of approved AISR systems. 
  • Cyber system locations include CONUS and OCONUS travel to include vendor, customer, and key system stakeholder interaction for training, cybersecurity software/hardware development, and vulnerability assessment during the program’s software development lifecycle (SDLC).

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in cyber-related technical field or IT-based specialization with 8-10 years of technical hand’s-on field experience working with DoD customers and vendors.  Degree requirements can be adjusted and/or waived based on technical certifications and training.  Military experience highly desired.
  • Must meet DoD 8570/8140 Compliance for Information Assurance Technical Level II (IAT Lvl2) or obtain IAT Lvl2 within 6 months of employment CompTIA Security + Certified (or obtain certification within 6 months of employment) CompTIA Server+ Certified/ Linux+ Certified (OS Certification)

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Entry-level to moderate knowledge of DOD, DISA, and vendor cyber policy and procedures and tools Entry-level to moderate knowledge of Risk Management Framework (RMF) processes and procedures to include continuous monitoring methodologies within a lab environment
  • Knowledge of obtaining and managing ATO certification procedures and processes
  • Working knowledge and use of Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS) scanning techniques and software implementation
  • Working knowledge and use of Security Content Automation Protocol (SCAP) tools
  • Working knowledge of radio and satellite connectivity and troubleshooting
  • Ability to perform IT-related system architecture development and testing, including design, implementation, assessment, and deployment related to current and future AISR cyber needs
  • Ability to develop and maintain detailed cyber-related schedule across multiple platforms to include manned and unmanned aircraft
  • COMSEC experience highly desired
  • Ability to operate in high Operational Tempo with diverse and highly trained team for extended periods of time
  • Potential CONUS and OCONUS travel
  • Must be a US Citizen
  • TS/SCI clearance Required
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a CI polygraph

Salary at MAG Aerospace is determined by various factors including but not limited to location, the particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $80000 to $120000 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of MAG's total compensation package for employees.
