Position Summary

MAG Aerospace is seeking a Mission Systems Operator. This position with SMT supports our primary customer, 1st SFC and is the Mission Sensor Operator (MSO) for the Division.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work directly with tactical customers to facilitate the most effective employment of MAG SMT aircraft, equipment and personnel during the scheduling process, pre-deployment/currency CAS/ISR training, after actions and return to base.
  • SMT MSO will coordinate with SMT Director, Maintenance Director, lead or Chief pilot, and other MSOs on all issues related to scheduling of personnel, aircraft operations and maintenance, and thr troubleshooting, replacement, repair and testing of ISR equipment integrated into SMT aircraft  
  • Ensure SMT aircraft supporting training flights are Fully Mission Capable (FMC) pre and post deployment.
  • Note and report any issues with aircraft or on-board equipment and communicate to PME/Maintenance personnel and Management.
  • Work with lead SMT pilots and maintenance personnel to fully plan and staff future operations with MSOs/CAS SMEs/Pilots.
  • Coordinate with customers on pre-deployment issues such as location of events, restricted airspace operations,
  • Primarily support MAG SMT as a Subject Matter Expert in CAS and ISR integration during pre mission briefings, during flight support, and post mission debriefings.
  • Conduct real-time layered analysis of data from a variety of collection assets, and communicating that information to ground force commanders before, during and after the execution of ISR and CAS training missions.
  • Understand system operation and employment tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs) in order to optimize system employment.
  • Coordinate with Maintenance and PME personnel for SMT aircraft functionality and any issues either mechanical or mission equipment centric.
  • Provide support to Management as required

Requirements

 

Required Education and Experience 

  • Familiar with weaponology related to platforms Ground Force Tactics, Techniques and Procedure for implementation of UAS capabilities
  • Ability to operate in congested airspace within target area using proper deconfliction methods
  • In-depth knowledge of mission planning, pre-briefing and debrief methods
  • Academic training and certification in airborne sensor operation
  • Current FAA Class III flight physical
  • Current Altitude Chamber and Physiological Training
  • Three plus years of experience operating and configuring line-of-sight/beyond-line-of-sight voice, data and video communications systems
  • An advanced understanding of the fundamentals of air-ground integration and tactical voice communications required
  • Working knowledge of ground force and enemy TTPs
  • Previous work / interface with tactical customers to facilitate the most effective employment of a dynamic suite of airborne sensors during real-time combat and sustainment operations
  • Possess intimate familiarity with all aspects of operation and employment of the equipment specified under the field service contract
  • Experience and intimate understanding of Joint Airborne Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures (TTPs) in support of Special Operations Forces (SOF)
  • Must possess experience flying onboard an ISR aircraft operating these suites
  • Willing to continuously operate from austere and primitive locations

Preferred Education / Certification / Experience

  • Service within SOCOM units is desired
  • Three plus years of experience operating Full Motion Video/IR systems desired
  • Prior military experience with MQ-9/Gray Eagle as Instructor Pilot or Mission Systems Operator preferred
  • Associate's degree OR 4 years Military experience is preferred

  • Possibly austere and primitive location(s)

Security Clearance

  • Must be a US Citizen
  • Must possess an active TS/SCI clearance
