Position Summary

MAG Aerospace is seeking an experienced Configuration Manager (CM) to serve as the primary authority for all configuration management activities within the Product Lead Strategic Spectrum Warfare (PL SSW) product office. This role supports the materiel development, production, and delivery of Signals Intelligence (SIGINT) and Electronic Warfare (EW) weapon systems. The CM ensures that all hardware, software, and documentation baselines are properly identified, controlled, and maintained throughout the product lifecycle, in accordance with Department of Defense (DoD), Army, and PM EW&C configuration management policies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Duties include, but not limited to:

  • The CM will lead the implementation and administration of configuration management tools, including PTC Windchill (or equivalent), to maintain configuration accountability, traceability, and compliance with contractual and programmatic requirements.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain the Product Office’s Configuration Management Plan (CMP) in compliance with DoD and Army acquisition regulations and standards (e.g., MIL-STD-973, MIL-HDBK-61A, ANSI/EIA-649).
  • Establish and maintain hardware and software configuration baselines for SIGINT and EW weapon systems across all program phases (development, production, fielding, and sustainment).
  • Manage and operate the configuration management database and repository using PTC Windchill (or equivalent CM tool), ensuring accurate recordkeeping of configuration items (CIs), engineering drawings, software versions, and technical documentation.
  • Oversee the identification, documentation, and control of configuration changes via the Engineering Change Proposal (ECP) and Request for Deviation/Waiver (RFD/RFW) processes.
  • Coordinate and facilitate Configuration Control Boards (CCBs) and ensure all approved changes are implemented, verified, and documented.
  • Interface with systems engineers, software developers, hardware engineers, logisticians, quality assurance, and contracting personnel to ensure configuration status accounting is accurate and complete.
  • Conduct configuration audits (Functional Configuration Audit, Physical Configuration Audit) to verify that as-built products match as-designed documentation and requirements.
  • Maintain compliance with cybersecurity and information assurance policies regarding configuration documentation and software control.
  • Support technical data package (TDP) development, review, and delivery in accordance with acquisition milestones and contractual deliverables.
  • Provide CM-related training, guidance, and subject matter expertise to team members and stakeholders.

Requirements

Minimum Requirements

 

Knowledge and Skills

 

  • Experience with managing change control of Configuration items. Change controls include participating in review boards, processing change proposals, and CCBs.
  • Knowledge of DoD and Army CM policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Experience with CM software tools (e.g., PTC Windchill, IBM Rational ClearCase, Git, or similar).
  • Familiarity with SIGINT and/or EW systems, or other military C4ISR systems.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent technical, interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.

 

Clearance

  • Active DoD Secret Clearance with the ability to obtain TS/SCI

Experience & Education

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in configuration management for complex hardware and software systems, preferably in a DoD acquisition environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field; or demonstrated equivalent work experience.

 

       Preferred Qualifications

  • TS/SCI strongly preferred.
  • 10 years of CM experience desired.
  • Certification in Configuration Management (e.g., CMII, CMPIC, NDIA CM).
  • Experience supporting ACAT I–III programs in all acquisition phases.
  • Working knowledge of Agile software development and DevSecOps environments.
  • Experience conducting configuration audits and managing technical data packages.
  • Prior experience in a defense contractor environment or military acquisition program office.

 

       Other Qualifications

  • Ability to travel occasionally to contractor facilities, test ranges, and fielding sites (CONUS and OCONUS) may be required. 15%
  • Ability to work in office/field/lab environments

Salary at MAG Aerospace is determined by various factors including but not limited to location, the particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $0 to $165,000 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of MAG's total compensation package for employees.
