Position Summary

MAG Aerospace is currently bidding on a contract to provide flight training support services for the U.S. Army Special Operations Aviation Command (USASAOC) We are seeking highly qualified Weather Forecaster to support USASOAC’s 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment (160th SOAR) and the Special Operations Aviation Training Battalion (SOATB).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Analyze climatic regimes, space weather effects on flight and ground operations, geography, terrain, weather system characteristics, centralized weather products, and indigenous surface and upper-air reports to forecast weather conditions for locations nationwide.
  • Identify, evaluate, and monitor significant weather developments, especially as they present potential impacts on SOATB operations. The Contractor shall discuss the location, intensity, movement, and development potential of weather features.
  • Participate in daily meteorological briefings to SOATB personnel.
  • Identify and evaluate data sources for applicability and quality.
  • Provide weather briefings and modify forecasts developed by other activities to provide information on exact conditions expected to be encountered by SOATB during projected timeframe for the area of operation.
  • Disseminate weather observations using local system and/or other local procedures.
  • Maintain a continuous weather watch or a basic weather watch as required by local procedures. Assist unit personnel by issuing and tracking weather advisories as required.

Requirements

  • Minimum four years of aviation weather forecasting experience.
  • Knowledge of meteorology including meteorological methods, techniques, and practices, including weather observing, forecasting, communications, meteorological equipment, and support procedures.
  • Skill in using various METOC computer software applications. Specifically, the Air Force Weather Web Service (AFWWEBS).
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing to prepare and present guidance products, briefings, coordinate planning efforts, and manage program activities.
  • Completion of USAF Weather Forecast Apprentice Course or equivalent.
