Position Summary

MAG Aerospace is seeking to hire a Software Engineering Project Manager in APG, MD at the C5ISR Worldwide-defense-system Integration, Prototyping, and Security facility.

In this role, you will rely upon your background in software/data engineering and expertise in project management.  You will lead complex projects in a highly specialized and regulated environment to deliver cutting edge technology-based products that meet demand. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Duties include, but are not limited to:

 

  • Lead and manage a software engineering project from concept to implementation
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (including software engineers, DoD-focused data scientists, cloud architects, DoD stakeholders, and industry experts) to define project scope, requirements, and deliverables
  • Development and maintenance of project plans, schedules, and budgets, ensuring effective resource allocation and utilization throughout the project lifecycle
  • Creating a roadmap and implementation plan for both on-premise and cloud-based CI/CD development environments
  • Facilitate the implementation and optimization of DevOps practices, including continuous integration, continuous delivery/deployment, automated testing, infrastructure as code, and configuration management
  • Pro-actively identify and mitigate risks and issues that may impact project timelines, quality, or scope, and develop contingency plans as necessary

  • Provide leadership and guidance to the project team, promoting collaboration, communication, and a positive work environment in a highly regulated environment

  • Track project progress, regularly report on key metrics and milestones to stakeholders, and ensure transparency and alignment throughout the organization

  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies related to cloud, data platforms, data mesh, and DoD communications systems modernization, and provide recommendations for process improvements
  • Ensure compliance with DoD regulations, security standards, and organizational policies throughout the project lifecycle where applicable

Requirements

Minimum Requirements

 

Knowledge and Skills

  • 5+ years of experience as a Project Manager leading and delivering projects with a focus on software engineering/data engineering and/or software development
  • Proficiency in project management methodologies and tools such as Agile, Scrum, or Kanban
  • Experience with DevOps tools and technologies such as Git, Jenkins, Docker, Kubernetes, Nexus, and Jira, etc.
  • Knowledge of and practical experience with data mesh architecture principles and concepts including domain-oriented decentralized data ownership, federated data governance, and self-serve data infrastructure
  • Knowledge in data modeling techniques, both traditional and domain-driven design, to ensure data quality, consistency, and interoperability across domains
  • Knowledge in cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Gov Cloud Platform, and utilizing cloud-native data services and technologies

 

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or other related field

 

Other Qualifications

  • Must be a US Citizen
  • Must have a Secret Clearance with the eligibility to obtain a Top Secret

 

Desired Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or other related field
  • Project Management certification  
  • Top Secret Clearance

Salary at MAG Aerospace is determined by various factors including but not limited to location, the particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $80500 to $149500 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of MAG's total compensation package for employees.
